Just a few weeks after writer Isobel McArthur picked up her second prestigious award for her creation Pride & Prejudice* (*Sort Of), the producers of the Olivier and Evening Standard Award-winning show unveiled casting for the 2023 world tour.
Opening at The Lowry in Salford on 19 January, the production will feature a number of performers who appeared in the Covid-shortened West End run at the Criterion Theatre. After making her West End debut in the production, Leah Jamieson will play Anne, Mary Bennet, Lydia Bennet and Mr Gardner alongside Lucy Gray who made her professional debut in the show, reprising her performance as Tillie, Charlotte Lucas, Charles Bingley and Miss Bingley.
They will be joined by Emmy Stonelake as Effie and Elizabeth Bennet, Megan Louise Wilson as Clara, Jane Bennet and Lady Catherine de Burgh, Dannie Harris as Flo, Mrs Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy and Laura Soper.
Inspired by Jane Austen’s classic novel, McArthur’s Pride & Prejudice* (*sort of) features an all-female cast and a karaoke soundtrack. Oliver and Evening Standard Award-winner McArthur also co-directs the production along with Simon Harvey.
Pride & Prejudice* (*Sort Of) is directed by Isobel McArthur and Simon Harvey. Comedy staging is by Jos Houben, design by Ana Inés Jabares-Pita, lighting by Colin Grenfell, musical supervision by Michael John McCarthy, sound design by Michael John McCarthy and Luke Swaffield for Autograph and choreography by Emily Jane Boyle.
Following Salford the production will visit Newcastle, Bath, Coventry, Richmond, Chichester, Cheltenham, Inverness, Cardiff, Nottingham, Eastbourne, Chester, Birmingham, Leeds, Blackpool, Bristol, Truro, Malvern, Exeter and Norwich.
David Pugh presents Tron Theatre Company, the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh and Blood of the Young’s production of Pride & Prejudice* (*Sort Of) with co-producers Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Leeds Playhouse, Northern Stage and Oxford Playhouse.
