Pint of Wine’s critically-acclaimed European professional premiere of Michael John LaChiusa’s Queen of the Mist will transfer to the Charing Cross Theatre this summer.

Following on from its successful sold-out run Jack Studio Theatre in Brockley in April, the new theatre company’s version of LaChiusa’s award-winning show will play a limited seven-week season at the central London venue from 15 August until 5 October. A London cast recording will be released ahead of the transfer season.

With music, lyrics and book by LaChiusa (The Wild Party, Marie Christine), Queen of the Mist is inspired by the true story of Anna Edson Taylor, an American schoolteacher who at the age of 63 became the first person to survive a trip over Niagara Falls.

Taking on the central role of Anna, Trudi Camilleri (Ragtime, Death Takes A Holiday, Charing Cross Theatre) heads a cast which also includes: Will Arundell (Mack & Mabel, London Musical Theatre Orchestra), Emily Juler (Jerry Springer: The Opera, Stockwell Playhouse), Emma Ralston (Bananaman: The Musical, Southwark Playhouse), Tom Blackmore (Grindr: The Opera, Above the Stag), Conor McFarlane (Assassins, Pleasance Theatre) and Andrew Carter (Choir of Man, Edinburgh Fringe and World Tour).

The Pint of Wine production is directed by Dom O’Hanlon, with musical supervision by Jordan Li-Smith and musical direction by Connor Fogel.

Based on the story of the woman who made history in 1901 when she took her famous trip in a barrel of her own design, the musical premiered Off-Broadway in 2011 winning the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. The show was also nominated for six Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Musical.
