The 2027 UK and Ireland tour of multi-award-winning musical Chicago will open at the New Wimbledon Theatre on 5 February 2027.

Produced by David Ian for Crossroads Live in association with the Broadway producers Barry and Fran Weissler, the production will follow its Wimbledon debut by visiting Plymouth, Cardiff, Sheffield, Liverpool, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Manchester, York, Blackpool, Nottingham, Bradford, Southend, Eastbourne, Birmingham, Norwich, Brighton, Bristol, Milton Keynes, Truro, Oxford, Hull, Llandudno, Sunderland, Woking, Cheltenham, Stoke-on-Trent and Edinburgh (further dates are to be announced).

Inspired by the 1926 play of the same name by crime reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago boasts a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Ebb. The original Broadway production debuted in 1975 and arrived in London in 1979.

The production is based on the successful 1996 Broadway revival which was directed by Walter Bobbie with choreography by Ann Reinking in the style of Fosse. The revival opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London on 18 November 1997 to rave reviews and ran for 15 highly successful years in the West End. The production claimed the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical Production and the 1998 Critics’ Circle Drama Award for Best Musical. The show is the longest-running American musical in Broadway and West End history.

Chicago has played in 38 countries worldwide and has been performed in English, Dutch, German, Swedish, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Italian, French, Danish, Japanese and Korean. The musical has been seen by an estimated 34 million people, grossed over $1.8 billion and played over 36,000 performances.
