The stage musical adaptation of the classic movie Roman Holiday will receive its UK premiere at the Theatre Royal Bath next summer.
Presented by Theatre Royal Bath Productions, by arrangement with Paul Blake and BFI Productions, the much-loved 1953 film has been adapted by Kirsten Guenther and Paul Blake, co-writers of the stage version of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.
Featuring the timeless music of Cole Porter, including standards like ‘You Do Something to Me’, ‘In The Still of yhe Night’, ‘Just One of those Things’ and ‘Night and Day’, the musical will begin performances in Bath on 10 June 2023 ahead of an opening night on 20 June 2023.
Directed by double Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee Jeremy Sams (Noises Off, 13) Roman Holiday will run up to 1 July 2023. The cast and further creative team will be announced at a later date.
Winner of three Academy Awards including the Best Actress Oscar for leading lady Audrey Hepburn in her first major movie role, William Wyler’s Roman Holiday enchanted moviegoers with its tale of a young European princess who escapes the bonds of royal life for 24 hours in the company of an American journalist played by Gregory Peck.
