Jason Donovan will reprise his performance as Frank-N-Furter for the first time in the UK in 25 years this summer when he takes centre stage in the latest tour of Richard O’Brien’s cult classic the Rocky Horror Show.
Announced as Donovan (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Grease the Musical) prepares to take his final bow as Frank N Furter in the hit 50th anniversary international touring production at the Theatre Royal in Sydney, the 2024/2025 UK tour will hit the road from 19 August 2024 until 1 February 2025.
The tour which will launch at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley from 19-24 August, will include a two-week run at London’s Dominion Theatre from 6-20 September and a Christmas season at the Liverpool Playhouse from 3 December 2024 to 4 January 2025.
Commenting on his summer return to the role he first played in the UK in 1998, Jason said: “I am thrilled to dive into the exhilarating role of Frank-N-Furter with a fantastic new cast and ‘Timewarp’ with audiences throughout the UK. We promise to deliver the freshest Rocky ever, that audiences will not forget. So, buckle up, as the show promises to be a wild and wicked ride!”
Since its first appearance at the Royal Court Theatre in June 1973, Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show has been seen by over 30 million people worldwide, playing to packed houses in over 30 countries and has been translated into more than 20 languages.
The director of the current version of the enduringly popular musical, Christopher Luscombe, created a new production in 2013 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the show which famously combines science fiction, horror, comedy and music and encourages audience participation.
