Popular Off-Broadway musical revue Forever Plaid will return to London’s Upstairs At The Gatehouse for a season of socially distanced performances in June.
Presented by Ovation, the rock ‘n’ roll- flavoured production which is directed by John Plews and choreographed by Racky Plews will play the Highgate venue from 1-27 June.
With a cast including Cameron Burt, George Crawford and Alex Zane, the creative team for the production also includes musical director Ian Oakley, lighting designer Aaron Dootson, sound designer Toby Burrow, assistant choreographer Eddie Slattery and producer Katie Plews for Ovation with casting by Pearson Casting.
Written and originally directed by Stuart Ross, with musical continuity, supervision and arrangements by James Raitt, Forever Plaid is the story of a men’s harmony group killed in an accident and then magically given the chance to return to Earth for one last chance of musical glory.
Featuring classic songs including ‘Magic Moments’, ‘Catch a Falling Star’ and ‘Love is a Many Splendoured Thing’, Forever Plaid was first performed in New York in 1989. Originally produced by Gene Wolsk, Ross also directed the 2008 Forever Plaid The Movie. Filmed at CBS Columbia Square in Los Angeles, the film version was narrated by David Hyde Pierce and featured two of the stars of the original production – Stan Chandler and David Engel.
