Writer and pop star Tom Fletcher is offering fans a glimpse of the upcoming stage version of his children’s novel The Christmasaurus with the release of a festive music video.
One of 14 tracks taken from the CD released ahead of the show’s Christmas run in London, the moving video for ‘Afraid of Heights’ features the McFly favourite and inspirational teenager Lily Rose.
Paying tribute to Lily, the first European female to perform a backflip in a wheelchair, Fletcher said: “I’m so incredibly honoured that Lily agreed to star in the official music video for ‘Afraid of Heights’. I’m incredibly proud of this song. It is written for a pivotal moment in The Christmasaurus and Lily perfectly exemplifies everything that The Christmasaurus represents. I hope our video, based on true events, does her story justice. Thanks to Lily, who most definitely is NOT afraid of heights!”
Lily, who has a condition known as hereditary spastic paraplegia, is currently preparing for her next challenge – she hopes to take part in next year’s Wheelchair Motorcross Championship in California.
The Musical Edition of The Christmasaurus includes both the novel and the CD which features 14 new tracks written and performed by Fletcher accompanied by a full orchestra, with appearances from Fletcher’s wife Giovanna Fletcher, sister Carrie Hope Fletcher, McFly bandmate and Strictly winner Harry Judd and Santa Claus.
Under the direction of Derek Bond, The Christmasaurus Live is due to take to the Eventim Apollo stage in Hammersmith for ten performances, beginning on 21 December.
A tale of adventure, family, friendship and discovering that the impossible might just be possible, the stage show will feature sleigh bells and singing elves, Santa Claus and flying reindeer, music and magic.
The Christmasaurus is also being turned into an animated feature film, directed by Michael Gracey, the director of the highly-anticipated movie The Greatest Showman On Earth starring Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum.
