Daniel Fish’s innovative 2019 Tony Award-winning revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s much-loved Oklahoma! will follow its successful Young Vic run with a West End transfer in early 2023.
Presented by Eva Price, Sonia Friedman Productions and Michael Harrison in association with the Young Vic, the Bard SummerScape production of Oklahoma! will open at Wyndham’s Theatre in February next year. Dates and casting will be confirmed at a later date.
The winner of the 2019 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival followed its acclaimed Broadway run and successful US tour with a recent sold-out run at the Young Vic.
Re-orchestrated and re-imagined for the 21st century, the critic and crowd-pleasing version of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein’s first musical features orchestrations, arrangements and music supervision by Daniel Kluger, choreography by John Heginbotham, scenic design by Lael Jellinek and Grace Laubacher, costume design by Terese Wadden, lighting design by Scott Zielinski, sound design by Drew Levy, projection design by Joshua Thorson, with co-music supervision and additional vocal arrangements by Nathan Koci.
Based on the 1939 play Green Grow The Lilacs by Lynn Riggs, Oklahoma! was first seen on Broadway in 1943. The production featured original choreography by Agnes de Mille. First seen in the West End in 1947, the musical was famously made into an Oscar-winning 1955 film. The enduringly popular musical has been revived on Broadway and in the West End numerous times.
