Emily Blunt was nominated for Best Actress in Comedy/Musical at the Golden Globes for Into the Woods

There was no Oscars encouragement for Rob Marshall’s cinematic interpretation of the 1986 Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine musical Into the Woods when the Golden Globes gongs were dished out in Hollywood on Sunday night, writes Jeremy Chapman.

Put up for three awards – Best Motion Picture in Comedy/Musical, Emily Blunt for Best Actress in Comedy/Musical and Meryl Streep for Best Supporting Actress in the same bracket – Into the Woods drew a blank.

The winners of those three categories were The Grand Budapest Hotel, Amy Adams (for Big Eyes) and Patricia Arquette (for Boyhood).

Oscars nominations are announced on Thursday (15 January) with the Academy Awards ceremony taking place two Sundays after the BAFTAs on 22 February.
