Glee favourite and Broadway star Matthew Morrison will play three concerts in the heart of London next month.
Presented by Club 11 London and The Hippodrome, the shows on Tuesday 16 May (at 8pm and 11pm) and Wednesday 17 May will feature the multi award-winning actor/singer and a top-flight jazz band.
Billed as an ‘intimate evening of standards and favourites’, Morrison’s London dates will take his audience on a musical journey through a career that has taken him from stage and screen and back and into the recording studio.
Commenting on his return to the Capital, Morrison said “London holds a very special place in my heart. It’s a city I love exploring and drawing inspiration from. There’s a sense of nostalgia and longing that this city brings to me, and a lot of the music I’ll be performing holds that same sentiment.
“To perform at such a place as the Hippodrome, where greats like Sinatra and Judy Garland graced the stage, is truly a career highlight that I look forward to sharing with those in attendance.”
Morrison, who won fans on both sides of the Atlantic with his performance as Will Schuester in the smash hit series Glee, made his musical theatre debut on Broadway in Footloose in 1998. His breakthrough role came four years later when he was cast as Link Larkin in the Broadway production of Hairspray.
His most recent Broadway appearance was in the role of J.M. Barrie in Finding Neverland which opened in 2015, the same year as the final series of Glee wrapped.
Morrison recording career includes a debut, self-titled album through Mercury Records in 2011, which featured an A-list line-up of guest artists including Sting, Gwyneth Paltrow and Elton John. In June 2013 Morrison released his latest studio album, Where It All Began.
Announcing the concerts, Club 11 London producers, Darren Bell and Marc McBride said: “We are thrilled to keep on bringing London the best and exciting stars from Broadway to perform at the iconic Hippodrome Theatre. When we started, our journey producing at the Hippodrome, Matthew Morrison was always in our wish list of Broadway stars, and after a very successful two years we are thrilled that we are now bringing this to fruition.”
