The West End cast recording of Dolly Parton’s hit show 9 to 5 The Musical is now available to stream and download on all streaming platforms.
Recorded live at London’s Savoy Theatre where the production celebrates its first birthday this month, the recording features stars Caroline Sheen, Amber Davies, Natalie McQueen, Bonnie Langford and Brian Conley.
Presented by country music legend Parton and based on the 1980s movie in which she starred alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, the show is directed by Jeff Calhoun, the director of the 2010/2011 US tour of the musical
The lively musical comedy features music and lyrics by Parton, and a book by Patricia Resnick based on the screenplay by Resnick and the director of the original film, Colin Higgins.
Calhoun heads a creative team that includes choreographer Lisa Stevens, set and costume designer Tom Rogers and lighting designer Howard Hudson, with musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Mark Crossland, musical direction by Andrew Hilton and casting by Victoria Roe and Anne Vosser.
Due to end its Savoy Theatre run on 23 May 2020, the hit touring production will be back on the road for the second leg of its national tour in May, and an Australian tour will begin in April.
A comic battle of the sexes involving three female office workers who get the better of their sexist, egotistical boss, the musical attracted 15 Drama Desk Award nominations and four Tony Award nominations when it ran on Broadway in 2009 with a cast that featured Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty and Marc Kudisch.
