Molly Marie Walsh plays the title role in Thoroughly Modern Millie at London’s Theatro Technis
Mollie Marie Walsh will play the title role of Millie Dillmount alongside Russell Grant as the devious Mrs Meers in the Off-West End premiere of the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie (playing at Theatro Technis from 1-25 October, press night is 7 October).
Thoroughly Modern Millie, with music by Jeanine Tesori, lyrics by Dick Scanlan and a book by Richard Morris and Scanlan, is based on the 1967 film of the same name, starring Julie Andrews. When the show premiered on Broadway in 2002, the musical won a variety of awards including five Drama Desk Awards and six Tony Awards.
Mollie Marie Walsh has recently played Mrs Cratchit in Alan Menken’s A Christmas Carol at London’s Tabard Theatre and Katisha in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado at Battersea Barge; although the majority of her career has been based in the US, with credits such as The Witch in Into the Woods and roles in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Forbidden Broadway.
The rest of the cast are: Poppy Tierney as Muzzy Van Hossmere (Chess, The Witches of Eastwick), Graham Macduff as Trevor Graydon (Spamalot, Carousel, Grand Hotel), Scott Royal as Jimmy Smoth (Annie), Katriona Perrett as Miss Dorothy, Carlos Mapano as Bun Foo and Prem Rai as Ching Ho. The ensemble also includes: Daisy Boyles Jordan Cunningham, Colin Kiyani, Sam Lathwood, Sophie Le Brun, Katie Monks, Ellie Self and Mark Williamson.
The creative team is led by director Drew Baker, alongside costume designer Andrew Cox, musical director Matt Ramplin, set designer Ben M Rogers and choreographers Matt Wesley and Tom Gribby.
Thoroughly Modern Millie is presented by Entourage Productions, founded in 2014 by CJ de Mooi and Drew Baker to bring exciting and engaging theatre to stages in London and beyond. Their most recent production was the musical Zanna Don’t! at the Landor Theatre.
