Babes in Arms will be staged in concert at the Royal Festival Hall in March 2016

160302_rfh_babes_in_arms_web_0Rodgers and Hart’s classic Broadway musical Babes in Arms will be heading to London’s Royal Festival Hall in March next year.

Babes In Arms – The Musical in Concert, a new version of the 1930s show that features American songbook standards like ‘My Funny Valentine’, ‘The Lady is a Tramp’ and ‘Where Or When’, will play the Royal Festival Hall on 2 March 2016.

The event is the latest in a series of Musicals in Concert presented by leading independent concert promoter Senbla (Peter Pan, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying). The plot of the show, which debuted on Broadway in 1937, centres on a group of small-town Long Island teenagers who put on a show to avoid being sent to a work farm by the town sheriff when their actor parents go on the road in a vaudeville show. The famous 1939 film version featured Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney in the starring roles.

Details about the cast and creative team for the new concert version are yet to be confirmed.
