Tommy Steele’s The Glenn Miller Story is heading back on the road this August for a third UK tour which will run into the autumn.

The brainchild of the veteran entertainer and his friend producer Bill Kenwright, The Glenn Miller Story features the exuberant Steele along with a 16-piece orchestra and a full company of performers.

The show celebrates the musical legacy of Miller, the legendary American band leader who mysteriously disappeared over the Channel as he flew to Paris to entertain the troops over 70 years ago.

Directed by Bob Tomson and Kenwright himself, and with choreography by Olivier Award winner Bill Deamer (Top Hat, Evita, Save the Last Dance For Me), the tour will open at Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion on 5 August.

It will remain at the Cliffs until 13 August before heading for the Leeds Grand Theatre (16–20 August), Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre (22–27 August), the New Theatre, Oxford (29 August–5 September), Plymouth Theatre Royal (6–10 September), Nottingham Theatre Royal (13–17 September), Malvern Theatres (20–24 September), The Hawth, Crawley (27 September–1 October) and Venue Cymru, Llandudno (11-15 October).
