Young Frankenstein took home the top honours at the fourth annual West End Bake Off charity event held at The Actors’ Church, St Pauls.
Judges Christopher Biggins, Ruthie Henshall and Wendi Peters crowned the team from the hit show the winners, following in the footsteps of last year’s champions 42nd Street.
Commenting on the day’s events, Head Judge Biggins said: “It’s so fantastic to be here again judging for the fourth year of this amazing competition which helps so many people in the West End. Every year gets more and more exciting and the cakes get more and more phenomenal, it really is such an exciting day!”
The fourth edition of the annual fundraiser organised by theatrical charity Acting For Others which combines freshly baked cakes and sweet treats with West End theatre stars attracted teams from some of the West End’s biggest shows.
Young Frankenstein took home the prize in the face of strong showings from the teams from: The Play That Goes Wrong, The Mousetrap, Les Misérables, Phantom Of The Opera, Book of Mormon, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, Mamma Mia!, Thriller Live!, The Great Gatsby, Iris Theatre, and industry paper The Stage.
The star-studded fundraiser raises money for Acting For Others, the umbrella organisation that represents 15 UK theatrical charities (at last count the event had raised £9.5k).
Last year’s West End Bake Off raised over £5,000 for the charitable group which offers emotional and financial support to members of the entertainment industry who have fallen on hard times.
