More unique theatre content from Official London Theatre and Sky VIP

The Society of London Theatre’s Official London Theatre channel has announced a new partnership with Sky VIP to create more exclusive theatre content while theatres remain dark.

Casts from some of the West End’s biggest shows will feature in a series of eight newly commissioned 30-minute videos which will be initially available for Sky VIPs via the My Sky app throughout August and September before being hosted on the Official London Theatre YouTube Channel in September and October.

Following on from an episode featuring The Prince of Egypt, the second episode which put the spotlight on Wicked was available live to Sky VIPs on 14 August. Both episodes will go live on OLT in September – The Prince of Egypt (4 September) and Wicked (11 September).

Future episodes will feature: Disney’s The Lion King (Sky VIP 21 August/OLT 18 September); Only Fools and Horses The Musical (Sky VIP 28 August/OLT 25 September); Tina – The Tina Turner Musical (Sky VIP 4 September/OLT 2 October); Matilda The Musical (Sky VIP 11 September/9 October); The Play That Goes Wrong (18 September/16 October); and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Sky VIP 25 September/OLT 23 October).

The new series of exclusive West End-flavoured content aimed at homebound audiences builds on the success of the earlier collaboration between the Society of London Theatre and Sky VIP which featured performances and Q&A sessions.

Featured shows included Come From Away, & Juliet, SIX, Pretty Woman, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, and Mamma Mia! The special shows attracted over 13,000 views on Sky, while the series has had over 180,000 views across the Official London Theatre’s YouTube channel to date.

As well as creating unique content for theatre-loving home audiences, the partnership with Sky VIP allows The Society of London Theatre to provide paid work for casts while their shows remain closed.
