West End star David Hunter has followed the successful cassette release of his new EP PLAY by making the tracks available online.
With the original retro release run selling out in less than 24 hours, with one copy selling on ebay for £460, fans of the Waitress star who missed out on the cassettes will now be able to access Hunter’s latest tracks through all music platforms.
Commenting on the response to the cassette release, Hunter said: “It was so much fun releasing the cassettes. People really embraced the idea and indulged in my nostalgia!
“Honestly, I spend half my life pining for the 1990s Saturday morning cartoons and sugary cereal! But it’s finally time to bring PLAY up to date and let everyone hear it in all its 21st century glory! The songs span 11 years of writing and I can’t wait for everyone to hear them.”
PLAY was produced by Tim Prottey-Jones with design work by Christopher Porter.
After first finding fame as a finalist in Superstar, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 2012 TV hunt for a new face to play the title role in the arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, Hunter has been a West End regular taking on leading roles in multi-award-winning musicals including Once, Kinky Boots and, most recently, as Dr Pomatter in Waitress.
Hunter previous releases – ‘The Farm Song’, ‘The Space Between’ (with Caroline Kay) and ‘Silver Linings’ – are also available on iTunes and streaming sites.
