West End premiere for full production of Bonnie and Clyde The Musical

Tony Award-nominated show Bonnie And Clyde The Musical will receive its West End premiere at the Arts Theatre in the spring.

Announced on stage by producers, the DLAP group, during the second of this week’s two sold-out performances of Bonnie And Clyde In Concert at the newly refurbished Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the highly-anticipated full-length version of the cult musical will make its West End debut from 9 April 2022.

The production will be staged by the director of the concert version, Nick Winston, reuniting with set and costume designer Philip Whitcomb. Full casting will be confirmed at a later date.

Featuring music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll and Hyde, The Scarlett Pimpernel), lyrics by Don Black (Tell Me On a Sunday, Sunset Boulevard, Mrs Henderson Presents) and book by Ivan Menchell (The Prince and The Pauper Musical), the musical version of the story of one of America’s most infamous criminal couples had a short run on Broadway at the end of 2011.

Commenting on the show’s West End premiere, book writer Menchell said: “There is a tremendous love for this show now, and it’s fantastic that it is getting a West End run. The only thing the British love more than Americans on stage, is Americans behaving badly on stage!”

Composer Wildhorn added: “The show has built such a wonderful cult following, especially with younger audiences and I’m so excited to see Bonnie and Clyde find its audience here in London!”

Lyricist, Tony and Olivier Award winner Black commented: “The show has become so loved by people in the ten years since it was on Broadway. In fact, in one year we had something ridiculous like 60 productions going all over America, so we knew that people liked it – and now our time has come for London.”

Inspired by the story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, their passionate love affair and their violent crime spree during the Great Depression, the musical features the songs ‘Raise a Little Hell’, ‘This World Will Remember Me’ and ‘Made in America’.

Produced by Fourth Wall Live and co-produced by DLAP Group, Jason Haigh-Ellery and David Treatman Creative, this week’s two performances of Bonnie And Clyde In Concert starred Olivier Award-nominee Francis Mayli McCann (Heathers The Musical, Theatre Royal Haymarket, Evita, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) and Tony and Grammy Award-nominee Jeremy Jordan (Newsies, West Side Story, Waitress and Rock of Ages).

A live capture of the concert produced by David Treatman Creative, STEAM Motion and Sound, Fourth Wall Live, and DLAP Group will be released at a later date.
