Former Strictly champion turned musical theatre star Joanne Clifton (Flashdance, The Rocky Horror Show) will play The Giant in a modern musical re-imagining of Jack and The Beanstalk.
Streaming on Broadway on Demand from 22 July, the filmed musical also stars Natalie Paris (Six The Musical, The Regulars) as Fairy Sunflower, Georgie Lovatt (Les Misérables, BARE: A Pop Opera) as Princess Jill, Edward Chitticks (But I’m A Cheerleader: The Musical, Hairspray) as Jack Trott, Jordan Frazier (Hamilton, Bat Out of Hell) as Poison Ivy, Rosie Napper (Can’t Stop It: Another New Musical, Flashdance) as Jack’s Mother) and Kyle Birch (In Pieces: A New Musical, Leave A Light On) as The King). The ensemble is made up of Connor Tidman (The Bodyguard), Elena Breschi (Kindertransport), Tyla Nurden (The Rocky Horror Show) and Ella Goodwin (Thriller Live!).
Presented by Future Spotlight Productions and KidZania London, Jack and The Beanstalk will premiere on Broadway on Demand before embarking on a cinema tour across the UK and internationally, with a portion of ticket sales going towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Announcing the production, the artistic director of Future Spotlight Productions Louis Rayneau said: “We are SO excited to be back and bringing this GIANT of a fairy tale feature film to life in this live action film! The creatives and cast are all so wonderful; you are not ready for the visuals and the vocals. Making this film has been magical and we hope that radiates when you watch it.”
Rayneau who also directs the production, heads a creative team that includes choreographer Rachel Sargent, director of photography and videography Reece Darlington-Delaire, musical director Edward Court and sound designer Matthew Case with hair and make-up by Lisa Antonelli and Tanisha J Hillman. The production assistant is Celia Learmouth.
Launched in 2020 by director and producer Rayneau, Future Spotlight Productions has already produced a number of successful online events including the Spotlight on the Future web duet series, the fundraising showcase Spotlight on the Future LIVE! at The Drive In and filmed musical productions, Cinderella and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, produced in collaboration with Kidzania London.
