Paul Whitehouse will re-join the Trotter family from 6 January 2023, when he returns to the role of Grandad again in the West End smash Only Fools and Horses The Musical.
Commenting on his return to the show, the comedian and co-creator of the musical theatre adventures of Del Boy and Rodney said: “I can’t wait to be back in Grandad’s armchair next year after a bit of a break – many thanks to Les Dennis who’s been keeping it warm for me! It’s incredible to still be playing to packed houses week in, week out and I’m thrilled that the show is extending the run yet again. Mange tout!”
The news of Whitehouse’s encore run coincides with the announcement that the show’s successful run at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket has been extended for a further three months until 29 April 2023.
Based on John Sullivan’s iconic and record-breaking television show and featuring cherished material from the TV series, the musical has a script and original score written by John Sullivan’s son, Jim and comedian Whitehouse. Featuring musical contributions from Chas ‘n’ Dave, the feel-good, family-friendly production which is directed by Caroline Jay Ranger has been seen by over 700,000 people since it premiered in the West End in February 2019.
Whitehouse’s Grandad will reunite with the show’s Tom Bennett as Del Boy and Ryan Hutton who made his professional West End stage debut as Rodney in the production.
The cast also features Ashleigh Gray as Raquel, Nicola Munns as Marlene and Cassandra, Craig Berry as Boycie, Lee VG as Trigger, Adrian Irvine as Denzil, Danny Bayne as Mickey Pearce and Danny Driscoll, Andrew Bryant as Mike The Barman and Tony Driscoll.
Completing the Company are Christopher Arkeston, Marion Campbell, Wesley Charles, Leanne Garretty, Ian Gareth Jones, Chris Kiely (also resident director), Danny Lane, Andy Mace, Melanie Marshall, Gemma McLean, Darry Paul and Mark Pearce.
