Alex Prescot: Cosy – Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Alex Prescot: Cosy continues at Dexter at Underbelly, Bristo Square until 25 August 2025.

Star rating: four stars ★ ★ ★ ★ ✩

A genuinely happy ‘people person’, Alex Prescot’s one-man show is a hit. Attracting return audiences, here’s a young man on top of his game. The game is stand-up musical theatre – taking inspiration from members of the audience, songs are performed on the hoof.

In exchange for a few facts, the audience member is rewarded with a cushion (decent reward in most Fringe venues) and a spontaneous song. His quick-fire wit is supported with a structure around images and stories of his former music partner and some literal signposts to keep him on track.

He’s a very likeable character – a bit like a fluffy Joel Dommett – and he builds a marvellous rapport with his audience. A great and clear voice and rather good keyboard skills hold his audience from start to finish. Oh, and watch out for that sensational smile. Great comedy and great fun.

Expect to want to see him again!
