A group of young Australian industry professionals have united to create a new innovative digital musical. Developed during the second lockdown in Australia, Suddenly: A Short New Musical features an original pop/rock score by singer/songwriter Jordie Race-Coldrey and a cast of Melbourne-based artists.
Describing the musical Race-Coldrey said: “This is a story about the importance of family relationships and learning that we are all just a work in progress, and learning how to be vulnerable enough to open up and let people in, even when it feels like the walls are up too high.”
Performed on a stage designed for the camera, the 30-minute musical is the first production from a new creative team made up of Race-Coldrey who also directs, co-writer and creative producer Dean Gild and lead actors Kara Sims (soon-to-be-seen in the Melbourne production of Moulin Rouge) and Katie Weston (a double award winner with musical theatre credits including Chicago and The Last Five Years).
Commenting on the project, Gild said: “I have no doubt that you’re going to be seeing a lot more of every single person who stars in, and has worked so tirelessly behind the scenes of this film.”
The film premiered with a sold-out screening in Melbourne and is now available to view worldwide on YouTube
