The multi-award-winning West End production of Back to the Future The Musical will fire up the DeLorean for one last time at the Adelphi Theatre on 12 April 2026, six months after the hit show embarks on its first UK tour.
Announcing the London production’s final bow, lead producer Colin Ingram said: “Great Scott! Back to the Future The Musical continues to be a huge success throughout the world with over 4.5 million people now having visited Hill Valley. The show finishes in the West End after a fantastic five years and having been seen by over two million people. We’re now excited for the next phase of Back to the Future The Musical as it heads out on tour for audiences to enjoy all across the UK.”
The production currently stars Caden Brauch as Marty McFly, Corey English as Doctor Emmett Brown, Maddie Grace Jepson as Lorraine Baines, Orlando Gibbs as George McFly, CJ Borger as Goldie Wilson and Marvin Berry, Alex Runicles as Biff Tannen, Talia Palamathanan as Jennifer Parker, Lee Ormsby as alternate Doctor Emmett Brown and Strickland, Gracie Caine as Linda McFly and Liam McHugh as Dave McFly with Ryan Appiah-Sarpong, Jed Berry, Billie Bowman, Jabari Braham, Charlotte Coggin, Sia Dauda, Lauren Dawes, Alexander Day, Talia Duff, Helen Gulston, Oliver Halford, Thomas Inge, Stephen Lewis-Johnston, Adam Margilewski, Amy Barker, Anna Murray, Samuel Nicholas, Brian Ó’Muirí, Phoebe Roberts, Issie Wilman and Alexandra Wright.
At select performances Oliver Halford plays the role of Marty McFly – the production marks Halford’s West End debut after he was discovered as part of the global casting call for the next Marty McFly.
Based on the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, Back to the Future The Musical is the brainchild of producer Colin Ingram (Ghost – The Musical) and the creators of the much-loved time-travelling film series, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale.
The critically acclaimed Olivier, WhatsOnStage and Broadway World Award-winning Best New Musical celebrated its opening night in London on 13 September 2021.
Featuring a book by Gale and new music and lyrics by the film’s Emmy and Grammy Award-winning composer Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard, the stage musical also includes songs from the film including Huey Lewis and the News’ Oscar-nominated ‘The Power of Love’.
Tony Award-winning director John Rando (Urinetown, On the Town) heads a creative team that includes the multi-Tony and Olivier Award-winning design team of Tim Hatley (set and costume design), Hugh Vanstone (lighting), Gareth Owen (sound) and Finn Ross (video). Choreography is by Chris Bailey, with illusions by Chris Fisher, musical supervision and vocal arrangements by Nick Finlow, orchestrations by Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook and dance arrangements by David Chase. Casting is by David Grindrod Associates.
The musical premiered in Manchester in early 2020 at the start of what was to have been a limited 12-week season before heading for London where it has proved to be a box office record breaker at the Adelphi Theatre. The Broadway production which began performances on 30 June 2023 took its final bow in January 2025. The international roll-out includes the North American tour which opened in June last year and is currently running in cities across the US and Canada until August. Productions are due to open in Japan and Australia this year, while German and Royal Caribbean productions have been recently announced.
