Leicester run for Public – The Musical

The award-winning Public – The Musical will play Leicester Curve’s Studio Theatre from 30 May until 13 June 2026.

The newest incarnation of the gig theatre style musical created by theatre collective Stroud & Notes will be presented by Roast Productions in association with Curve.

Featuring a rock/pop score and a comic script, the musical is written by Hannah Sands, Kyla Stroud and Natalie Stroud. Public – The Musical is directed by Sands, with music composed by Kyla Stroud, choreography by Natalie Stroud and musical supervision and orchestrations by Olivia Zacharia.

Commenting on the production’s Leicester debut, writer and composer Stroud said: “From songs written in a bedroom during the pandemic, to debuting a bloomin’ musical at Curve… I’m beyond incredibly proud of this little show and the journey it’s been on already. As a team, we’re so excited to bring our pop-rock celebration of compassion and understanding to the Leicester stage!”

First seen as a work-in-progress at the VAULT Festival in London in 2023 where the musical won the VAULT Festival Origins Award, the tale of four strangers stuck in a gender-neutral public toilet was also a hit at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe later that year where it collected The Charlie Hartill Award and was also listed as Playbill’s Pick of the Fringe.
