Nicole Faraday will return to the role of cell block bully Shell Dockley when a new production of Bad Girls The Musical opens at London’s Upstairs at the Gatehouse in February 2019.
Faraday, who won a TMA award for her performance in the original production of the show, will be joined by Lucyelle Cliffe (Les Misérables, Wicked, Legally Blonde) as Julie Saunders, Rebecca Eastham (Hollyoaks, Billy Liar) as Nikki Wade, Bella Bowen (The Last Five Years) as Helen, and Jade Marvin (Mythic) as Denny Blood.
Completing the cast are Benjamin Connor (as Justin), Carol Sharp (as Sylvia Hollamby), Alex Roberts (as Crystal Gordon), Anna Middlemass (as Julie Johnston), Meg Jobling (as Rachel Hicks), Nic Gilder (as Jim Fenner), Tony Sharp (as Number One), Hayley Jo Whitney (as Yvonne Atkins) and Alice Hutson (as swing/dance captain)
Directed by Rebecca Eastham, the Upstairs at the Gatehouse production will open at the Highgate Village venue on 13 February 2019 and will run until 3 March. The production will then play two dates at the Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury (5-6 March).
Produced by RAB Productions, Bad Girls The Musical will feature musical direction by Lawrence Michalowski and choreography by Rachel Chapman with set and lighting design by Andrew Exeter.
Based on the guilty pleasure ITV series, Bad Girls The Musical debuted in Leeds in 2006 in a production developed and directed by Maggie Norris. Written by the creators of the TV series, Maureen Chadwick and Ann McManus, with music and lyrics by Kath Gotts, the show had a short West End run in 2007.
