The recording of the National Lottery’s Big Night of Musicals 2025 will be broadcast on BBC One and available on iPlayer on 22 March from 6.50pm.
Marking 30 years of the National Lottery’s funding of theatre and performing arts across the UK, the celebration of the best of musical theatre returned to the AO Arena in Manchester for the fourth year on 27 January.
Filmed in front of an audience of over 1,200, the event which was once again hosted by Jason Manford featured special guests including Michael Ball and Marisha Wallace.
Produced by TBI Media, the show included performances from the casts of Jim Steinman’s Bat Out of Hell The Musical, Cabaret, Calamity Jane, Chicago, Dear Evan Hansen, Here & Now – The Official Steps Musical, Mary Poppins, Mean Girls and Titanique along with a preview of Disney’s Hercules ahead of its opening at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane this summer.
Other highlights included host Manford and Daniel Mays teaming up to perform a song from Something Rotten! and Michael Ball joining Vicky McClure’s Our Dementia Choir for an emotional rendering of ‘The Impossible Dream’.
The event was aimed at thanking Lottery players who helped support more than 20,000 theatre-related projects to the tune of £1.3 billion with National Lottery funding helping to restore theatres as well as enabling hundreds of performing arts projects.
