Anthology Theatre will present the London premiere of Tim Firth’s award-winning musical This Is My Family at Southwark Playhouse Elephant this summer.
Directed by Olivier Award-winner Vicky Featherstone (Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour), the production will begin preview performances at the south London venue from 23 May ahead of an opening night on 28 May. The season will run until 12 July.
Commenting on the London debut of his musical, Firth, the multi-award-winning stage and screen writer behind hit shows including Calendar Girls, Kinky Boots, The Band and Now is Good, said: “Having a London premiere in a place like this directed by Vicky feels like a competition win for me. The Elephant is a theatre designed for adventure and intimacy – perfect for a musical intended to show that you don’t have to travel abroad to go on safari, that wild animals are closer than we might think and that the best holidays are the ones on which we’ve laughed the most.”

The comedic and uplifting tale of a disastrous family holiday that ultimately brings a family back together again, the UK Theatre Award-winning musical was originally staged at Sheffield Theatres in 2013.
