Casting has been confirmed for the upcoming UK tour of the hit stage adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling novel The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.
Vasco Emauz (Back to the Future) will step into the role of Percy Jackson, alongside Kayna Montecillo (Starlight Express) as Annabeth and Cahir O’Neill (title of show) as Grover.
They will be joined by Simone Robinson (Coming to England) as Sally Jackson, Niall Sheehy (Miss Saigon) as Mr Bruner, Aidan Cutler (Back to the Future) as Mr D, Ellie-Grace Cousins (Mamma Mia!) as Clarisse and Paolo Micallef (cast following open auditions) as Luke with Alex Anderton (professional stage debut), Abe Armitage (The Wizard of Oz), Joseph Connor (Sister Act), Ellouise Delooze (professional stage debut), Becca Francis (Iolanthe at ENO) and Amy McEvoy (professional stage debut) as the ensemble.
Presented by Bill Kenwright Ltd and Paul Taylor-Mills, the tour will open at the Theatre Royal Windsor from 15-23 August. The production which played a successful 30-week London run at The Other Palace will then visit Newcastle, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Brighton, Stoke-on-Trent, Coventry, Bradford and Wimbledon.
Confirmed 2026 venues include Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff (14-17 January) and the Birmingham Hippodrome (24-28 February). Further venues will be announced soon. Directed and choreographed by Lizzi Gee (Groundhog Day), the musical has a book by Joe Tracz (Be More Chill) and music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki (Monstersongs).
The production features set and costume design by Ryan Dawson Laight, lighting design by Tim Deiling, sound design by Dan Samson, video design by Matt Powell, illusions by Richard Pinner and fight direction by Lisa Connell. The creative team also includes musical supervisor Jeremy Wootton, musical director Will Joy, associate director and choreographer Libby Watts and associate set and costume designer Christophe Eynde.
Announcing the tour earlier this year, the musical’s producer Paul Taylor-Mills said: “We’re thrilled to bring Percy Jackson’s epic journey to more UK audiences following the success we’ve had in London. This show is full of energy, humour and heart—whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the world of Camp Half-Blood, you’re in for an unforgettable adventure.”
The recent London cast included Paisley Billings (SIX) as Sally Jackson/Medusa, Jazz Evans (Spamalot) as Mr Brunner/Poseidon/Hades, Joshua Lay (A Chorus Line) as Mr D, Kenedy Small (SIX) as Clarisse and Xander Pang (Dear Evan Hanson, South East Asian premiere) as Luke/Ares with Philip Catchpole (The Book of Mormon), Owen Lloyd (Girl From the North Country), Rachel Moran (Just For One Day), Greg Stylinou-Burns (Wicked) and Alex Waxman (stage debut) in the ensemble.
The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical premiered Off-Broadway in 2014 before embarking on two US tours. The musical was staged Off-Broadway again in 2017 and played a 16-week limited run on Broadway in 2019.
