Cast for Mamma Mia! 2022 tour

Sara Poyzer will re-create her performance as Donna Sheridan when multi-award-winning feel-good musical Mamma Mia! brings a touch of Greek sunshine to venues across the UK in 2022.

Poyzer (Assassins, Watermill/Nottingham Playhouse, Billy Elliot the Musical, Victoria Palace) will return to the role she previously played at London’s Novello Theatre, on tour and in the open-air presentation at Harewood House in the summer alongside Jena Pandya (What’s New Pussycat? Birmingham Rep) as Sophie Sheridan.

The touring cast will also include: Nicky Swift (Shirley Valentine, 30th Anniversary UK tour, Footloose UK tour) as Rosie; Helen Anker (Cats, Kilworth House, Parade, Donmar Warehouse) as Tanya; Richard Standing (Faith Healer, Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Macbeth, Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre) as Sam Carmichael; Phil Corbitt (Return to the Forbidden Planet, West End &and UK tour, The Secret Agent UK tour) as Bill Austin; Daniel Crowder (The Graduate, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Neville’s Island, Stephen Joseph Theatre as Harry Bright; Sarah Harlington (Spamalot, Mercury Theatre, Fame UK tour) as alternate Donna Sheridan; Mariella Mazzilli (Mamma Mia! UK and International tour as Lisa), James Willoughby Moore (The Hired Man, Cadogan Hall, Matilda The Musical, Cambridge Theatre) as Pepper and Corey Mitchell (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, UK tour, Starlight Express, Bochum, Germany) as Eddie.

Further casting includes Taylor Bridges, Ambra Caserotti, Martin Dickinson, Billy Downes, Chloe Gentles, Rachel Ivy, Luke Jasztal, Matt Kennedy, Lewis Kidd, Robert Knight, Hollie Nelson, Natasha O’Brien, Phoebe Roberts, Blair Robertson, Kaine Ruddach, Amy Thiroff and Cameron Vear.

Announcing the 2022 cast and dates, the show’s creator and producer Judy Craymer said: “I’m really excited that Mamma Mia! will be touring the UK once again from January 2022. We can’t wait to bring the feel-good story and much-loved music of ABBA to new and returning audiences across the country.”

Celebrating 22 years since the show’s debut in London, the tour will open at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth on 18 January 2022. The production will then visit Hull, Eastbourne, Aberdeen, Liverpool, Nottingham, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent, Glasgow, Bristol, Sunderland, Bournemouth, Milton Keynes, Brighton, Canterbury, Leicester, Llandudno, Norwich, Sheffield, Belfast, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Manchester, Cardiff, Blackpool and Leeds.

Since its premiere in London’s West End in 1999, producer Craymer’s inventive musical inspired by the hits of Swedish supergroup ABBA, has been seen live by over 65 million people in 50 different productions in 16 different languages. In 2011 the show became the first Western musical to be staged in Mandarin in China.

The show originally opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1999, before moving into the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2004 and then reopening in its current London home, the Novello Theatre in 2012. The London production has broken box office records in all three of its London homes.

With music and lyrics by ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast.

The production is designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.

The Mamma Mia! UK & international tour is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East & Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal and NGN.
