Sheffield Theatres’ artistic director Robert Hastie has confirmed the full cast for the world premiere of home-grown new musical Standing At the Sky’s Edge.
Combining new and classic songs by award-winning singer/songwriter Richard Hawley and inspired by the people of his home city of Sheffield, the show which features a book by playwright Chris Bush follows the fortunes of three families through 60 turbulent years in the high-rise Park Hill area of the city.
Hastie will direct Darragh Cowley (Spring Awakening, Hope Mill Theatre); Nicole Deon (Dreamgirls, Savoy Theatre); Louis Gaunt (Kiss Me Kate, Sheffield Theatres); Adam Hugill (professional stage debut); Robert Lonsdale (A Lie of the Mind, Southwark Theatre); Fela Lufadeju (Guys and Dolls, Manchester Royal Exchange); Maimuna Memon (Into the Woods, Manchester Royal Exchange); Johanne Murdock (Leave to Remain, Lyric Hammersmith); Damian Myerscough (Mamma Mia! international tour); Alastair Natkiel (Women On the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Playhouse Theatre); Faith Omole (An Ideal Husband, Vaudeville Theatre); Deborah Tracey (Fever, Birmingham Rep); Rachael Wooding (A Chorus Line, Sheffield Theatres); and Alex Young (Show Boat, Sheffield Theatres).
Due to run from 15 March until 6 April 2018, the Sheffield Theatres production will be designed by Ben Stones, with choreography by Lynne Page, musical supervision by Tom Deering, musical direction by Will Stuart, lighting design by Mark Henderson and sound design by Simon Baker. The production’s casting director is Stuart Burt.
