The producers of new British musical Billie The Kid have added an extra date to the show’s West End premiere at the Vaudeville Theatre in response to high demand.
Featuring music and lyrics by award-winning composer and writer Gez Mercer and a book by writer Conway McDermott and Mercer, and directed by the creative director of Theatro Technis, Kerry Kyriacos Michael, the musical will now make its debut in front of a live audience in semi-staged form on 13, 20 and 27 November.
The US Bible Belt-set story of teenager Billie will star Natasha J Barnes (Hex, National Theatre, Funny Girl, Savoy), Kymberley Cochrane (winner of the prestigious BBC Norman Beaton Fellowship in 2022 and a member of the 2023 BBC Radio Drama Company), Harvey Ebbage (La Cage aux Folles, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Dreamgirls, UK Tour), Ki Griffin (Hollyoaks), Beth Hinton-Lever (Hadestown, The Doncastrian Chalk Circle, National Theatre), Tony Jayawardena (The Father and the Assassin, England People Very Nice, National Theatre), Rob Kershaw (professional debut), Ryan Kopel (Newsies, Troubadour Theatre, The Book of Mormon, Prince of Wales), Phoebe-Loveday Raymond (NewsRevue, London/Edinburgh), Aharon Rayner (Miss Saigon, Sheffield Crucible, The Great British Bake Off the Musical, Noël Coward Theatre), Olivia Saunders (Hex, National Theatre, Kinky Boots in Concert, Theatre Royal Drury Lane), Jodie Steele (Bonnie and Clyde, Garrick, Heathers, West End/The Other Palace), Yuki Sutton (2023 Offie Winner Best Supporting Performer in a Musical for Ride: The Musical, Charing Cross Theatre), Hannah Victoria (Madagascar – The Musical, Little Shop of Horrors, UK tours) and Yasmin Wilde (The Archers).
The creative team also includes musical director Tom Cagnoni, choreographer Julian Capolei, lighting designer Tim Deiling, sound designer Sam Vincent and costume designer Stephen Foley with props by Jida Akil. The musical supervisor is Alex Beetschen, the associate musical director is Annemarie Lewis Thomas, the associate director is Shelley Williams, the associate choreographer is Laura Braid, the casting director is Andrew Lynford, with Sophie Matthew (casting associate), Lisa D Richardson (general manager), Felix Davies (production manager) and Laila Alj (associate producer).
