The original London cast recording of award-winning Broadway composer Jill Santoriello’s latest work It Happened in Key West will be released on 5 November 2018 on all digital and streaming formats.
Currently playing the final week of its well-received world premiere run at London’s Charing Cross Theatre (until Saturday 18 August 2018), the live recording will be released by producer Jeremiah James of Outside The Box LLC in association with producer Cameron Smith. The album is co-produced by the show’s writer Santoriello.
Featuring a book, music and lyrics by Santoriello, the writer of the award-winning musical adaptation of A Tale of Two Cities, with book and additional lyrics by Jason Huza and book and original concept by Jeremiah James (a member of international recording group Teatro), the musical comedy was inspired by shocking true events
The album which was recorded at a matinee performance on 31 July features acclaimed Broadway actor Wade McCollum (Wicked, Priscilla Queen of the Desert), as the central character of Count Carl Von Cosel, and Alyssa Martyn as the woman he loves in life and after her death. The cast also includes: Val Adams, Miguel Angel, Alexander Barria, Mary-Jean Caldwell, Andrea Golinucci, Siwan Henderson, Sophia Lewis, Guido Garcia Lueches, Hannah McIver, Ross McLaren, Johan Munir and Nuno Queimado.
It Happened in Key West has orchestrations by Robert Felstein. The band includes music director Andrew Hopkins (conductor/keys), Jack Cherry (electric & acoustic bass), Kristal Hamson (flute/clarinet/sax) Oliver Pooley (drums/percussion), Tom Turner (keys) and Miriam Wakeling (cello).
The show is directed and choreographed by Marc Robin with production design by Jamie Roderick, sound design by Andrew Johnson, costume design by Lisa Zinni, musical direction by Andrew Hopkins, and orchestrations Robert Felstein.
