The award-winning West End production of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is entering its fourth and final year at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
With tickets available for performances up to 7 January 2017, the hit show currently features former RSC actor Jonathan Slinger as Willy Wonka, with Joe Butler-Smith, Noah Crump, Johnny Evans- Hutchinson and Zachary Loonie sharing the role of Charlie.
Principal cast members include Barry James, Ross Dawes, Josefina Gabrielle, Jasna Ivir, Paul J Medford, Claire Carrie, Lara Denning, Myra Sands, Kraig Thornber and recent arrival Chris Grahamson.
The ensemble cast includes: Andy Brady, Georgia Carling, Andrew Carthy, Sam Lathwood, Lucinda Lawrence, Steven Serlin, Robert Tregoning, Tara Verloop and Michelle White.
Joining the ensemble are: Alexander Bartles, Lisa Bridge, Melanie Brown, Helen Colby, Ashley Cooper, Alastair Crosswell, Katrina Dix, Ryan Gover, Rebecca Hodge, Peter Houston, Thomas Inge, Mikey Jay-Heath, Joanne McShane, Ben Redfern, Ainsley Hall Ricketts and Johnathan Tweedie.
Under the direction of Sam Mendes, this stage version of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory quickly become a mainstay of the West End. It collected two Olivier awards in April 2014, and has broken records at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Featuring ingenious stagecraft, the timeless magic of Dahl’s original work was brought to life with music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, a book by award-winning playwright and adaptor David Greig, set and costume designs by Mark Thompson and choreography by Peter Darling.
A Broadway production will open in New York in the 2016-2017 season and tickets for a UK tour of the show will go on sale early next year.
The current West End production will also take part in this year’s nationwide celebrations marking the centenary of Dahl’s birth.
The musical is produced by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Neal Street Productions and Langley Park Productions.
