Tickets will go back on sale on 18 May 2021 for the eagerly-awaited return of the hit London production of Dear Evan Hansen which is due to resume performances at the Noël Coward Theatre on 26 October.
The curtain will rise on the West End production six weeks ahead of the return of the original Tony Award-winning production which is due to welcome audiences back to its New York home, the Music Box Theatre on 11 December, five years after its debut.
Producer Stacey Mindich has also confirmed the relaunch of the record-breaking North American tour which will head out on the road for its third year beginning in Greensboro, North Carolina before visiting over 30 cities across the US and Canada.
Commenting on the resumption of performances for all three productions, Mindich said: “It’s a remarkable feeling to put plans in place to relaunch all three Dear Evan Hansen companies, though we, like everyone in the theatre industry, are facing considerable challenges.
“We will proceed safely and smartly to ensure a safe and equitable workplace for everyone when we return, and protect our cast, crew and audiences amidst a world forever changed and continuously evolving due to both the global pandemic and the cultural and racial reckoning. We hope that Dear Evan Hansen’s message of human connection and acceptance will feel more vital than ever.”
As part of the relaunch, all three productions will work with their local not-for-profit partners on a special performance in recognition of the work of mental health care workers and volunteers.
Announcing the three special shows, Mindich said: “Mental well-being has become a core part of our show’s narrative over the years, and we hear from so many audience members about how the show has helped them on their own journeys to mental wellness.”
Reuniting the creative team behind the record-breaking original production, the West End’s Dear Evan Hansen stars Olivier Award winner Sam Tutty (Once on This Island, Southwark Playhouse) in the title role alongside Mountview Academy graduate Lucy Anderson in her professional West End debut as Zoe Murphy. The London cast also includes Rebecca McKinnis (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Apollo Theatre, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Playhouse Theatre) and Jack Loxton (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time & War Horse, National Theatre and West End) as Jared Kleinman.
Directed by Michael Greif, the show which boasts a book by Steven Levenson, and a score by Tony, Grammy and Academy Award winning composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, debuted on Broadway in 2016. An instant critic and crowd-pleasing success, the production collected six Tony Awards as well as the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. The show’s first North American tour which launched in 2018 has been seen in over 40 cities across North America playing to over 1.5 million audience members. The London production which opened in November 2019 had been playing to packed houses when the Covid curtain fell.
