Roxanne Couch will make her West End debut in the stage premiere of Drew Gasparini’s I Could Use A Drink at the Garrick Theatre on 2 August.
The actress who appeared in The Addams Family UK tour will replace the previously announced Hiba Elchikhe following her return to the cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
Announcing the cast change, the show’s producers said: “Losing Hiba is very sad, but we wish her all the best playing Pritti Pasha in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. Paramount to us all is keeping cast, creative teams and audience members safe in all productions lighting up the West End again. With care, our industry will soon be back where it was pre-COVID.”
Featuring extra songs and a number of the musical theatre stars who appeared in the recent streamed concert, the world premiere stage performance is inspired by the award-winning musical theatre composer’s original 2013 US studio album.
Produced by Alex Conder and Liam Gartland for Gartland Productions, the cast will include Ahmed Hamad (RENT), Billy Nevers (& Juliet), Caroline Kay (The Space Between), Luke Bayer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Maiya Quansah-Breed (SIX), Tom Francis (RENT) and 2020 Guildford School of Music graduate Olivia Lallo.
Currently working on a number of stage-bound projects including the score for the musical version of classic movie The Karate Kid with screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen, Gasparini’s musical theatre credits include Crazy, Just Like Me, Make Me Bad (co-created with Alex Brightman) and Turn of the Screw (with book by Michael Kimmel).
