Improv specialists The Showstoppers will return to the West End’s Lyric Theatre in November for the first in a five-month season of monthly shows
With two live shows left to play at The Showstoppers’ current residency, the Garrick Theatre, on 27 September and 11 October, the Olivier Award-winners have confirmed they will be taking their distinctive brand of live entertainment to audiences at the Lyric Theatre from 15 November with performances planned for 6 December 2021, 24 January, 21 February and 21 March 2022.
Each performance will feature a selection of artists drawn from the rotating Showstoppers company: Jonathan Ainscough, Ruth Bratt, Justin Brett, Matt Cavendish, Dylan Emery, Pippa Evans, Susan Harrison, Joshua Jackson, Ali James, Sean McCann, Adam Meggido, Philip Pellew, Andrew Pugsley, Lauren Shearing, Lucy Trodd and Heather Urquhart.
The rotating musicians are: Craig Apps, Christopher Ash, Alex Atty, Jordan Clarke, Pete Furness, Nathan Gregory, Calie Hough, Chloe Potter, Duncan Walsh Atkins and Andrew Woolf.
Directed by The Showstoppers’ creators Adam Meggido and Dylan Emery, the creative team for Showstopper! The Improvised Musical includes musical supervisor Duncan Walsh Atkins, movement director Ali James, set designer Simon Scullion, costume and prop designer Gabriella Slade, lighting designer Damian Robertson and sound design Oscar Thompson. The shows are produced by Showstopper Productions Ltd.
Created by Meggido and Emery, the Showstopper formula involves taking individual suggestions from each night’s audience and turning them into a brand new fully choreographed and scored musical. The improvised musical theatre show was founded in London in 2008 and has proved to be a hit with audiences around the world including at the Edinburgh Fringe for over 12 years. With over 1,000 performances already to their credit, The Showstoppers have featured in their own BBC Radio 4 series and regularly play to packed houses in the West End.
