New musical theatre production company Lambert Jackson has announced the five winners of its competition to find a future female musical star to feature in their next show, West End Women – A Celebration of Women in Musicals.
Open to women of all ages, the company’s second search for a singer to appear alongside a trio of West End leading ladies in their next show, attracted such a high standard of competitors the organisers decided to offer five hopefuls the opportunity to perform in the show at London’s Cadogan Hall early next month.
The chosen singers: Brady Isaacs Pearce, Talia Robens, Lauren Shields, Kayla Carter and Martha Boon, will take to the stage on Saturday 2 February alongside: Rachel John (Hamilton, Victoria Palace Theatre, The Bodyguard, Dominion Theatre/UK tour); Lauren Samuels (Bend It Like Beckham, Phoenix Theatre, We Will Rock You, Dominion Theatre, international tour); and Celinde Schoenmaker (Barnum, Menier Chocolate Factory, The Phantom of the Opera, Her Majesty’s Theatre).
As the overall winners, the youngest artists, 18-year-old Pearce and 14-year-old Robens, will perform solos with Shields, Carter and Boon performing a group piece with the West End Women performers.
Revealing the identities of the five winners, Lambert Jackson said: “It’s so important to us to offer opportunities to everyone to perform, that’s why we decided to run another competition for our show.
“We were thrilled with the number and standard of entries, that’s why we had to choose five winners! It was impossible to pick just one. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who entered. Please know that even if you weren’t chosen this time, there will be plenty more opportunities in the future, so keep an eye out!”
Presented in association with West End Wilma, the company’s second celebration of musical theatre’s favourite female characters will also feature a chorus of female students from theatre star Michael Xavier’s performing arts training ground MXM including the winner of Lambert Jackson’s first competition, Daisy Greenwood.
The show will feature a mix of classics from the timeless shows of George Gershwin and Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe to more recent works by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Adam Guettel.
Dedicated to producing musical theatre-themed shows, Lambert Jackson was founded by Jamie Lambert, who first attracted attention as part of Britain’s Got Talent 2014 winners Collabro and creative director Eliza Jackson, who also celebrated the premiere last year of her one-woman show, Voice Behind the Stars, staged at The Other Palace followed by a run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the summer of 2018.
