Fiver at Southwark Playhouse – full cast announced & video released

Final casting has been announced for the first full production of new British musical FIVER which will receive its world premiere at the Southwark Playhouse this summer.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’s award-winning Luke Bayer, Aoife Clesham (Peter Pan international tour) and Alex James Ellison (The Secret Garden) will join the previously announced Daniel Buckley (Eugenius!) and Hiba Elchikhe (Disney’s Aladdin) in the production.

Written by singer/songwriter Alex James Ellison and musical director Tom Lees, FIVER will play the Southwark Playhouse from 2 to 20 July 2019 with a press night on 5 July.

Elchikhe appears on ‘Whisper It To Me’, the first song from the show to be released. It features Lees on piano and James Ellison on guitar.

Originally seen in workshop form in 2017 at London’s Crazy Coqs in a production which also featured Buckley, FIVER takes the form of a series of musical vignettes following a five-pound note on its journey across London.

James Ellison will also direct alongside Lees who will also serve as musical director, with lighting design by Alex Musgrave and set design by Justin Williams.

Commenting on the latest stage in the development of their new musical, creators Ellison and Lees said: “Since Crazy Coqs we have expanded the show, both in terms of length and complexity. FIVER now runs 40 minutes longer and we are massively excited to see the changes we have made come to life on stage.”
