Friends spoof musical Friendsical heads back to the Edinburgh Fringe

A revamped version of hit parody musical Friendsical is heading back to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer ahead of a nationwide tour.

Created by writer and director Miranda Larson, and based on her long-time affection for hit Warner Bros Entertainment television series Friends, the spoof musical will play the Assembly Rooms – Music Hall from 4-28 August 2022.

Commenting on the production, Larson said: “Friendsical packs 10 years into 60 minutes, and features some iconic moments and characters such as Monica’s Turkey Head, Janice and even Richard Burke (like you have never seen him before). Whether you’re a fan of the TV show or new to it, there is something for everyone, including an exclusive song by Gunther, only being performed at the festival.”

Sario Solomon will take on the role of Joey, alongside Sarah Michelle-Kelly as Monica, Nelson Bettencourt as Ross, Tim Edwards as Chandler and Amelia Kinu Muus as Rachel, with Ally Retberg returning as Phoebe. The cast also includes Olivia Williams as Hot Girl/Ensemble and Niall Curran as Gunther.

With book and lyrics by Larson and music by Barrie Bignold, Friendsical is choreographed by Darren Carnall and associate choreographer Michael Vinsen, with set and costume design by Anthony Lamble, lighting design by Dominic Jeffrey, sound design by Olly Steel and casting by Nicholas Hockaday.
