Hit New York show Diva: Live From Hell to debut in London

Darkly comic US show Diva: Live From Hell will receive its European premiere in London next week.

Loosely based on the classic movie All About Eve, the one-man celebration of musical theatre with a devilish twist will debut at the Brockley Jack Studio Theatre in South London from 17-28 March 2020.

Following on from a critically-acclaimed performance in SplitLip’s innovative new musical Operation Mincemeat, Jak Malone will take on the demanding role of Desmond Channing. The president of the drama club, Desmond is battling to escape the Seventh Circle, Hell’s most squalid cabaret venue after a lethal encounter with a rival student.

Written and originally performed by Sean Patrick Monahan and featuring music and lyrics by regular collaborator Alexander Sage Oyen (Galatea, Tyrants), Diva: Live From Hell premiered at the Community Space Theater for the New City in New York in March 2017.

The first independent production from new company Stephen Yolland Entertainment, the European premiere of the show will feature new direction and design by Joe McNiece. Musical direction is by Kris Rawlinson and lighting design is by Alistair Lindsay.

Diva: Live From Hell is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe) Ltd on behalf of Dramatists Play Service Inc. of New York.
