An extra week has been added to the European premiere of Tony-nominated Broadway musical Little Women, the final production in the second season of shows from the partnership between Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre and London arts producer Aria Entertainment.

Following rave reviews and due to high demand, the show’s original four-week run at the distinctive Ancoats venue has been extended and will now end on 16 December.

Commenting on the extended run, Hope Mill’s co-founder Joseph Houston said: “What an incredible opening for the show – five star rave reviews, standing ovations, sold-out shows and now, due to popular demand, we’ve added an extra week to an already strong four-week run.

“Little Women The Musical is receiving such a warm welcome for its European premiere in Manchester. If theatregoers are looking for a show that’s different this festive season, they will certainly enjoy this story of family, love and hope. Join us at Hope Mill Theatre this Christmas-time for this wonderful production.”

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic 1869 novel, the show has a book by Allan Knee, with lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and music by Jason Howland.

Co-produced by Knockhardy Productions, Little Women is directed by Bronagh Langan and choreographed by Iona Holland with casting by Jane Deitch, design by Nik Corall, lighting design by Ben M Rogers and sound by Calum Robinson.

With the March sisters (Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy) played by Amie Giselle-Ward, Jemima Watling, Cathy Read and Katie Marie-Carter, the cast also includes: Johan Munir, Virge Gilchrist, Joel Harper-Jackson, Connor Hughes, Tony Stansfield and Anna Stolli.

The brainchild of Houston and William Whelton, the 120-seat Hope Mill Theatre in the Ancoats area of Manchester opened in December 2015 and is part of a converted Grade II listed former cotton mill that also houses studios for writers, artists and designers; events space and a café and bar.
