James Hadley has been confirmed as the new executive director of the Musical Theatre Network. Part of the London Theatre team at Arts Council England since 2010, Hadley will take up his new post in early November.
Before joining Arts Council England as a ‘relationship manager’ specialising in musical theatre, Hadley worked in Wellington, New Zealand as a programme manager at BATS Theatre and administrator at Playmarket. He has considerable experience as a producer, director, writer and developer of new work both in New Zealand and the UK.
Hadley will take over from Caroline Routh who is leaving MTN for a post as executive director of the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton.
The chair of MTN’s board, Jodi Myers commented: “I am delighted to welcome James Hadley, a great champion of musical theatre, to MTN. He will be an excellent successor to Caroline Routh, who has done so much to establish the organisation and get musical theatre onto the agendas of many organisations.”
Hadley added: “During my time at the Arts Council I have worked with many of those progressing through the musical theatre sector, and I am looking forward to expanding this focus to wider strategic benefit through my future role with MTN.”
