Reality TV star turned presenter Jeff Brazier will make his stage debut alongside JLS’ Austin Merrygold in the musical version of Dodie Smith’s much-loved 101 Dalmatians in the hit show’s London transfer run at the Eventim Apollo.
Commenting on his latest career change, Brazier said: “I love taking on new challenges and I’m so excited to absorb all of the acting experience around me from the cast of 101 Dalmatians. I’ll be working hard to learn my lines and looking forward to bringing smiles to lots of people’s faces throughout our summer run at the Eventim Apollo.”
Merrygold (Footloose, The Wizard of Oz) added: “I’m very proud to be joining the cast of 101 Dalmatians and excited to be a part of this production in Hammersmith for the summer. The kids can’t wait to see their dad back on stage!”
Brazier will play Casper alongside Merrygold as Jasper in the six-week run which will star Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas as the diabolical Cruella de Vil. The cast will also include Laura Baldwin (Danielle), Dylan Collymore (Ensemble), Victoria Compson-Bradford (Swing), Benedict Hastings (Ensemble), Linford Johnson (Pongo), Lottie Johnson (Ensemble), Rachel Lea-Gray (Ensemble), Kenan Lewis Smith (Ensemble), Callum Martin (Ensemble), Ronan O’Hara (Swing), Joe Sleight (Ensemble), Samuel Thomas (Tom), Emma Thornett (Perdi), Chioma Uma (Ensemble) and Jhanaica Van Mook (Ensemble).
Presented by Runaway Entertainment, the re-imagined version of the acclaimed Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s production will return to London for a limited season at the Hammersmith venue from 18 July to 30 August. Full casting for the London run will be announced at a later date.
Featuring music and lyrics by Douglas Hodge, and a book by Johnny McKnight from a stage adaptation by Zinnie Harris, the new version of the musical which mixes puppetry with live actors is directed by Bill Buckhurst. The production features sets designed by David Woodhead, costumes designed by Sarah Mercadé, choreography by Lucy Hind, musical supervision by Alfonso Casado Trigo, orchestration by Jack Hopkins, puppets designed by Jimmy Grimes, lighting design by James Whiteside and sound design by Chris Whybrow. The musical director is Leigh Standford Thompson and the casting director is Lucy Casson.
The touring production played its final performance at Brighton Theatre Royal in early January, with Kerry Ellis (Wicked, West End/Broadway, We Will Rock You, West End) starring as the villainous Cruella.
