Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth will take part in a special ‘meet & greet’ with her fans two days before her eagerly-anticipated concert at the London Palladium on 20 October.
The first come, first served event at 3pm on 18 October at London’s Theatre Café in Shaftesbury Avenue will give fans the chance to meet the stage and screen star and receive a signed photograph.
Two days later Chenoweth will take to the world-famous London Palladium stage in An Intimate Evening With Kristin Chenoweth. The actress and singer will perform her favourite songs from Broadway and the Great American Songbook accompanied by Michael Orland.
Chenoweth’s Palladium appearance comes just over a year after the release of her studio album of American classics The Art of Elegance (Concord Records).
From George Gershwin’s haunting ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’ and Rodgers and Hart’s ‘Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered’ to Bacharach and David’s ‘A House is Not a Home’, the song Chenoweth performed so memorably on the TV show Glee, the album featuring 13 of the best-loved songs in the American songbook was produced by Steve Tyrell.
At the time of release last September, Chenoweth said: “I love all kinds of music, but this repertoire has spoken to me my whole life. I remember learning some of this music as young as 12, and thinking to myself that one day, I would get to perform it. Now here I am with a record dedicated to the melodies and lyrics of some of our greatest composers.”
The album debuted at the top of Billboard’s Current Jazz and Traditional Jazz charts and was followed by Chenoweth’s return to the stage in the US in My Love Letter to Broadway, a series of New York concerts last November.
Chenoweth, who also starred in NBC’s festive TV event Hairspray Live! last December, sang gospel music as a child and studied opera before setting her sights on a career in musical theatre.
She made her Broadway debut in Steel Pier in 1997 and two years later won the Tony and Drama Desk awards for her performance in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Splitting her time between stage and screen, Chenoweth won an Emmy Award for her role in the romantic drama Pushing Daisies and has also appeared in a number of much-loved TV series including The West Wing and Glee.
Her performance opposite Idina Menzel in the original production of Wicked won rave reviews and her most recent Broadway run was in the hit show On The Twentieth Century opposite Peter Gallagher and the star of Groundhog Day The Musical, Andy Karl.
The Art of Elegance was Chenoweth’s sixth album release following on from Coming Home, a live recording of her first TV concert marking her triumphant return to the town where she grew up, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
