Beverley Knight, Amber Riley and Cassidy Janson have joined forces to create a vocal super group known as the Leading Ladies.
The three West End stars – Riley (best known for Glee and her current role as Effie White in Dreamgirls), Beverley Knight (The Bodyguard, Memphis, Cats) and Cassidy Janson (Beautiful, Wicked) – will be releasing their debut album Songs From the Stage this November.
In an exclusive preview, the three ladies treated an invited audience to a few snippets from the album. The chemistry between the three artists was obvious as soon as they began to sing.
Although the performers are such vocal powerhouses individually, but their glossy voices also complement each other beautifully and their harmonising on classic show tunes is a force to be reckoned with.
The album contains songs from shows close to home for the singers (Dreamgirls, The Bodyguard and Beautiful all feature) as well as popular musicals from across the pond, such as Hamilton. There’s even a Christmas number.
Songs From the Stage will be the perfect album for musical theatre fans, but the stripped-back arrangements on these classics will also make it a real joy for a wider audience.
