Lambert Jackson has announced the return of the popular Leave A Light On online concert series with a run of more intimate performances from artists’ own homes later this month.
The latest incarnation of the lockdown initiative launched by Lambert Jackson Productions and the Theatre Café during the first lockdown will run from 12 until 26 January 2021.
Commenting on the return of the project which was launched within hours of the curtain temporarily falling across Theatreland, Lambert Jackson Productions’ Jamie Lambert and Eliza Jackson said: “This series is designed to provide entertainment for people who are currently going through their third UK wide lockdown and are missing the magic of West End performances.
“We are super excited to be bringing Leave a Light On back, although we didn’t expect we would ever need to, and we would like to thank all of the performers involved for jumping on board so quickly.”
Running for approximately 45 minutes, each concert in the new Leave A Light On series will be recorded by the individual artists in their own homes. The line-up of shows will also include a showcase of recent graduates presented in connection with The Grad Fest which will offer the participants free links to agents, casting directors and industry figures along with a share of the ticket sales.
The first concert at 7.30pm on 12 January will feature Lauren Byrne, with Billy Nevers following on 13 January, Grad Fest on 14 January, Tim Mahendran on 15 January, Rob Madge on 18 January, Chelsea Halfpenny on 19 January, Rachel John on 20 January, David Hunter on 21 January, Lucie Jones on 22 January, Nicholas McLean on 25 January and Lauren Drew on 26 January.
Launched in March 2020 as a way to keep actors in paid work during the theatre closures, the 10-week run of the Leave A Light On series of intimate piano concerts streamed live featured a total of 72 artists all performing 45-minute concerts from their homes. West End stars including Beverley Knight, Cassidy Janson, Louise Dearman, Jordan Luke Gage and Dave Willetts were among the performers who have stepped into the spotlight over the last few weeks.
Dedicated to producing musical theatre-themed shows, Lambert Jackson was founded by CEO Jamie Lambert and creative director Eliza Jackson. The company which launched in 2018 with There’s Nothin’ Like a Dame – a celebration of 100 years of female characters in musical theatre, responded to the Covid-closedown with a number of initiatives including virtual productions of the musicals The Last Five Years, First Date; [title of show], I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and Songs For A New World. Songs For A New World also became the first musical to return to the West End following the easing of the first lockdown with performances at the London Palladium. The production is scheduled to play a season at the Vaudeville Theatre this year.
