Louis Gaunt will spend his second Christmas season at the London Palladium when he takes on the title role in the new production of Peter Pan.
Gaunt (Mary Poppins, Prince Edward Theatre) who also played the title role in last year’s Palladium Panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, and is playing The Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz at the iconic venue this summer will play Peter Pan opposite Olivier-nominee Frances Mayli McCann (Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour, UK tour/National Theatre/Duke of York’s Theatre, Bonnie & Clyde, Theatre Royal Drury Lane/Garrick Theatre) who will join the production to play Wendy.
Announcing the latest addition to the star-studded cast, regular director and producer, Michael Harrison said: “I’m so thrilled Louis is joining our cast for Peter Pan this Christmas… following Jack and the Beanstalk last year, he is a firm favourite of both the audience and the regular Palladium company. Louis is a proper leading man who is also brilliant in the Palladium production of The Wizard of Oz. And following her starring performance in Bonnie & Clyde, we all can’t wait to welcome Frances for her Palladium panto debut.”
The pair will join the previously announced Jennifer Saunders who will join the pantomime company to play Captain Hook alongside returning Palladium panto favourites Julian Clary as Seaman Smee, Nigel Havers as Pirate Nigel, Gary Wilmot as Mrs Henrietta Hook, Paul Zerdin as Starkey and Rob Madge as Tink for the strictly limited five-week run from 9 December 2023 until 14 January 2024.
Produced by Michael Harrison for Crossroads Pantomimes, the annual star-studded pantomime returned to the iconic London venue with Cinderella in 2016 and is now firmly established as one of the West End’s most popular festive offerings. Clary, Havers and Zerdin have starred in all the productions with Wilmot joining the regular cast in 2017 and Madge making his Palladium panto debut in last year’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk.
The production will once again feature set designs by Mark Walters, and costume designs by Hugh Durrant created especially for the London Palladium stage. The returning creative team also includes choreographer Karen Bruce, lighting designer Ben Cracknell and sound designer Gareth Owen, with composition and orchestrations by Gary Hind.
