Louise Redknapp and Brian Conley will return to their roles in 9 to 5 The Musical at London’s Savoy Theatre.
Redknapp will be back in the West End as Violet Newstead from 10 February 2020 following Caroline Sheen’s final performance as Violet on 8 February. Redknapp is expected to remain with the production until the show ends its West End run on 23 May (excluding 12-28 March).
Conley will take over the pivotal role of Franklin Hart Jnr from 2 March from Sean Needham. The actor who played the character in the recent UK tour will join the Savoy company from 10-29 February following the departure of David Hasselhoff who will take his final bow as the ‘boss from hell’ on 8 February.
Redknapp and Conley will join the production’s current stars Chelsea Halfpenny (Judy Bernly), Natalie McQueen (Doralee Rhodes) and Bonnie Langford (Roz Keith).
The cast at the Savoy Theatre will be completed by: Victoria Anderson, Alexander Bartles, Stephanie Chandos, Conor Crown, Alexander Day, Rhiane Drummond, Demmileigh Foster, Ross Lee Fowkes, Molly-May Gardiner, Llandyll Gove, Ben Irish, Jenny Legg, Natasha Mould, Sean Needham, Jon Reynolds, Ricardo Spriggs, Antoine Thomas-Sturge, Sasha Wareham and Emily Woodford.
Presented by Queen of Country Dolly Parton and based on the 1980s movie in which she starred alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, the show is directed by Jeff Calhoun, the director of the 2010/2011 US tour of the musical.
The lively musical comedy features music and lyrics by Parton, and a book by Patricia Resnick based on the screenplay by Resnick and the director of the original film, Colin Higgins.
A comic battle of the sexes involving three female office workers who get the better of their sexist, egotistical boss, the musical attracted 15 Drama Desk Award nominations and four Tony Award nominations when it ran on Broadway in 2009 with a cast that featured Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty and Marc Kudisch
Calhoun heads a creative team that includes choreographer Lisa Stevens, set and costume designer Tom Rogers, and lighting designer Howard Hudson, with musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Mark Crossland, musical direction by Andrew Hilton and casting by Victoria Roe and Anne Vosser.
The show previously debuted in the UK with a national tour beginning in 2012 and had its London Fringe premiere in 2017 with a well-received production at Upstairs at the Gatehouse.
