Immersive theatrical and dining experience Mamma Mia! The Party will be welcoming back ABBA-hungry diners to the Greek island-themed venue in the heart of London from 1 October 2021.
Commenting on the return of the innovative project, co-creator ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus said: “Mamma Mia! is a genuine, feel-good story and I always thought the much-loved stage show and movies had a party feel to them, so I created a unique dining experience that really captures that spirit. Mamma Mia! The Party has worked out even better than I imagined and I have a feeling that now people want to get out with friends and party more than ever.”
Now booking through to 3 April 2022, Mamma Mia! The Party will return to its specially-adapted venue within London’s O2 with a new menu created to bring the finest Greece has to offer to diners. Casting is to be announced.
A sell-out success since it opened in Stockholm in January 2016, the immersive theatrical and dining experience originally created by Ulvaeus, director Roine Söderlundh and writer Calle Norlén, the London version is co-directed and choreographed by Stacey Haynes and Söderlundh.
Set within a typical Greek taverna, the show features a new story and characters, songs from the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! plus extra ABBA hits by Ulvaeus and his songwriting partner Benny Andersson (with some songs by Stig Anderson). The original version was adapted for the UK by comedian and broadcaster Sandi Toksvig.
The London creative team includes set designer Bengt Fröderberg, lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe, sound designer Gareth Owen, costume designer Annsofi Nyberg, with music supervision by Robin Svensson and casting by David Grindrod for David Grindrod Associates.
