Funny Girl stand-in turned star Natasha J Barnes will follow up the September 2017 release of her single ‘Supermodel’ with full debut album Real on 16 February.
The first album resulting from the singer and actress’ high-profile recording deal with Sony Music, the recording features original songs plus some selected classics inspired by Barnes’ love of vintage records.
Due to celebrate the birth of her first child in 2018, Barnes’ album release follows on from her performances at the Royal Albert Hall as part of Celebrating Christmas with The Salvation Army and later alongside fellow West End favourite Alfie Boe and former pop star Nadine Coyle in ITV’s Christmas Carols, broadcast on Christmas Eve.
Hailed as a rising star from the moment she stepped into the role of Fanny Brice at the Menier Chocolate Factory and for the West End run of the hit show Funny Girl, Barnes joins a long and starry list of Sony Music signings from the musical theatre world. Her album will appear in a catalogue that includes the original Funny Girl, Barbra Streisand, Julie Andrews, Leonard Bernstein and Kristin Chenoweth.
After playing the title role in the Palladium’s all-star Cinderella for Christmas 2016, Barnes returned to the role of Fanny Brice opposite recording artist turned stage star Darius Campbell’s Nicky Arnstein for selected dates on last year’s Funny Girl national tour.
